Una nueva vacuna rusa contra el covid arrojó un 100 por ciento de eficacia
Autoridades de Rusia anunciaron que la EpiVacCorona tiene el mejor grado de eficacia inmunológica y preventiva, pero todavía resta iniciar las pruebas en la fase 3.
Las autoridades sanitarias de Rusia informaron que otra de las vacunas que desarrollaron contra el coronavirus, la EpiVacCorona, demostró generar una respuesta inmunológica del 100 por ciento. Así, esta vacuna se transforma en la que mayor inmunidad ha demostrado en los ensayos clínicos.
"La eficacia de la vacuna consiste en su eficacia inmunológica y preventiva. Según los resultados de la primera y segunda fase de los ensayos clínicos, la eficacia inmunológica de la vacuna EpiVacCorona es del 100%", indicó en un comunicado el Rospotrebnadzor, el organismo sanitario nacional. Todavía resta iniciar las pruebas correspondientes a la fase 3.
La EpiVacCorona fue desarrollada por el centro científico de virología y biotecnología Véktor. La vacuna, basada en antígenos peptídicos, fue registrada en Rusia el pasado 13 de octubre, meses después que la primera de todas: la Sputnik V.
Según la agencia de noticias rusa RT, el Ministerio de Salud autorizó al centro Véktor a llevar adelante pruebas en hasta 3 mil voluntarios que incluían a personas mayores de 60 años. Semanas después de iniciar esta etapa, las autoridades sanitarias le habrían informado del proyecto a la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS).
"El nivel de protección puede alcanzarse en un plazo diferente para cada persona, pero en promedio se forma en un mes", explicó Alexánder Rýzhikov, director del departamento de enfermedades zoonóticas y gripe del centro Véktor.
