Taquilla en crisis: “Hoy llenar la mitad del teatro es un muy buen número”
La economía es un condicionante y nadie queda exento de sentir sus efectos. El Teatro Mayo, el único en nuestra ciudad, sufre la caída de la venta de entradas, junto al aumento de los costos, pero sortea la crisis, de momento. Apuestan a buenas obras y buenos actores. El humor sigue siendo una carta ganadora.
La crisis castiga a todos los sectores. El arte y la cultura no son la excepción. En el caso del teatro, los números muestran una realidad nada alentadora: "Con una capacidad de 980 espectadores, vender hoy 500 tickets es un excelente número para la recaudación", aseguran desde el Teatro Mayo, el único en nuestra ciudad y uno de los más grandes de la provincia.
La estrategia para sobrevivir está en ser selectivos con las obras, que tengan buenos actores y buenas historias, según indicó Mauro Reinero, productor de la sala de Garibaldi 38.
Al promedio de 20 obras nacionales que llegan al Mayo cada año, se suman los espectáculos locales que apuestan a ese lugar para sus cierres de ciclo y eso completa la cartelera. Esto lo mantiene vivo y vigente... y en la lucha.
"En San Francisco y la zona el público es algo exquisito y rebuscado, por eso, para mantenernos en pie tenemos que elegir bien qué traer, porque si fuera por los artistas, todos quieren estar acá", comentó Reinero.
Ampliando esta afirmación, el propietario y tercera generación a cargo del teatro explicó que "nuestro público es apasionado del humor. Los artistas que más vinieron fueron Cacho Buenaventura, El Flaco Pailos y ahora está de moda El Oficial Gordillo. Por detrás vienen las obras de teatro con guiones dramáticos y tercero están los infantiles con los personajes conocidos como Topa, Panam y Piñón Fijo, para otros, no hay amplia aceptación".
De hecho, el Mayo recientemente tuvo que levantar la obra infantil "Lol - Fiesta Surprise" ante la escasa venta de entradas, ya que no era conocida por el público lo que reafirma la exigencia en cartelera. "Muchos me llaman para venir y presentarse en el Mayo pero a algunos les digo que no porque conozco lo que busca la gente", agregó el entrevistado.
Reinero: "En San Francisco y la zona el público es algo exquisito y rebuscado, por eso, para mantenernos en pie tenemos que elegir bien qué traer".
El teatro no es prioridad
En un contexto de crisis económica que golpea al país, el entretenimiento se convierte en lo primero que la gente deja de lado. A pesar de todo, para Reinero, el teatro sigue teniendo su gente.
"La situación del país influye en todos los rubros pero en el teatro más aún porque es lo primero que la gente recorta a la hora de gastar, ya que no es algo prioritario y la gente no lo necesita. Sin embargo, la gente sigue viniendo y tenemos un marco de público todavía importante, a pesar de la merma".
Con entradas a un promedio de $700, Reinero reconoció que es entendible que la gente sea selectiva y elija qué espectáculos quiere ver y por eso, el teatro debe responder con lo mejor. "Recuerdo haber vendido entradas para el show de Jairo hace 10 años atrás a $30 cuando hoy cuestan entre $600 y $700. En esa entrada repercute todo y si hay un alza del dólar, aumentan los gastos de la compañía de teatro, los nuestros y se encarece el ticket", contó.
Cartelera completa
Actualmente, se presentan hasta 30 espectáculos al año cuando entre 1992 y 2000 no había más de 10. El crecimiento lo marcaron las academias de danza y teatro locales, que apuestan al Mayo para sus cierres de año lo que le da un respiro económico a las finanzas de la sala, sobre todo de octubre a diciembre, cuando las obras migran hacia la temporada de plazas como Villa Carlos Paz o Mar del Plata.
"Las compañías apuestan a las giras nacionales y San Francisco es una plaza elegida y llegamos a recibir 20 propuestas al año. El resto, lo completan las actividades locales que eligen al Mayo como un lugar para mostrar sus actividades anuales", siguió Reinero.
Sala hasta la mitad
Atrás quedaron los años 60 y 70 cuando el teatro vivía su esplendor con todas sus butacas arriba y abajo ocupadas. Para un teatro como el Mayo, con capacidad de 980 espectadores, vender hoy 500 tickets es un excelente número para la recaudación tanto para los dueños como para la compañía que se presenta. "Cuando oímos hablar de `sala llena´ es de teatros con capacidad de 500 personas. En nuestro caso, que duplicamos esa cantidad de butacas, ver la sala mitad llena es realmente un logro", reconoció.

2- que presentó en la ciudad en marzo pasado porque no podía creer que tanta gente había pagado su entrada", recordó Reinero. Y no pudo evitar trazar una comparación entre las presentaciones que el consagrado bailarín tuvo a lo largo de los años: "En 2013, momento en que el artista estaba en lo más alto de su popularidad por haber ganado en tres oportunidades -2011, 2012 y 2013- el reality Bailando por un Sueño de Marcelo Tinelli, el artista llegó con 'Let It Be' y brindó dos funciones con el teatro a tope. En la segunda y tercera presentación en 2015 y 2016, con 'Pasional' y 'Freddie', respectivamente, solo llenó la planta baja y la última vez, hace dos meses atrás, cortó 450 tickets. La baja de público es muy notoria y hasta chocante, pero para estos tiempos, tener 500 personas es un muy buen número", indicó.
Mantenerse abierto
Por su cabeza no pasa la idea de cerrar el Teatro Mayo, como ocurrió a mediados de 2016. Por un lado, porque el teatro se puede mantener por sí mismo y por otro, porque tiene un gran valor sentimental para la familia Macchieraldo. "Si me pongo a analizar los números que arroja el teatro, me conviene alquilarlo y saco el doble. Pero por suerte aún se puede mantener por sí mismo, está en movimiento y no representa pérdida. Además, me dolería mucho cerrar las puertas de un lugar que soñaron y crearon mi abuelo Aquiles y su hermano Anselmo para la ciudad con la idea de darle algo que le faltaba", admitió Mauro.
"Muchas veces mi tío me carga y me dice: `Tenemos que vender un camión de soja para que este teatro esté abierto´ y sí, tiene razón. Los negocios familiares supieron aportar para que funcione y no se cierre el telón para siempre", acotó.
La familia ya le dijo adiós al cine que funcionaba en el mismo edificio hasta el año 92 y eso fue, según Reinero, una pérdida sentimental muy grande porque era "el hijo" del cine Rex -también de los Macchieraldo- y donde se proyectaron las más grandiosas películas. Y aun pudiendo el cine ser una opción comercial para captar más clientes, Reinero prefiere que quede en el pasado. "Recuerdo que vendíamos entradas numeradas por la cantidad de gente que venía. Eso fue así desde 1957 hasta 1992, porque en el último tiempo y con la aparición de la videocasetera, ya no tenía sentido seguir abiertos. Hoy, sería un despropósito hacerlo porque preferimos seguir apostando solo al teatro que es el único en su tipo en San Francisco y que el cine siga siendo uno y que le vaya bien", concluyó.
