Ryan García es campeón mundial interino del peso ligero del CMB
A pesar de haber caído en el segundo round por primera vez en su carrera, el boxeador estadounidense se levantó y superó al británico Luke Campbell por nocaut en el séptimo en Dallas, Texas, y desafió a Gervonta Davis.

El estadounidense venció al británico por nocaut en el séptimo asalto y se consagró campeón mundial interino del peso ligero del CMB, bajo la atenta mirada de Saúl Canelo Álvarez.
Más allá del triunfo, la situación se complicó y mucho para García en el segundo round: Campbell aprovechó la guardia baja de su rival para sorprenderlo y mandarlo a la lona por primera vez en su carrera, con un brutal gancho de izquierda. Sin embargo, el joven, de 22 años, logró reponerse y sobrevivió los últimos minutos para rearmar su estrategia en los siguientes asaltos.
La historia casi se define en el quinto round cuando García le conecto al experimentado púgil un fuerte gancho de izquierda, seguido por un uppercut de derecha, que lo dejó tambaleando contra las cuerdas y la campana lo salvó. Pero todo llegó a su fin en el séptimo: el estadounidense encontró el KO con un gancho de izquierda que lo llevó al británico a la lona.
Ahora, Devin Haney, Gervonta Davis, Teófimo López y Vasyl Lomachenko figuran como sus futuros posibles rivales. "Quiero ser un hombre de palabra. Quiero a Gervonta "Tank" Davis. Estoy listo. La gente está preocupada por eso. Quiero a Tank Davis. También pelearía con Devin Haney", concluyó.
