“Pitu” Cordero: “La bici me cambió la vida”
Una bicicleta adaptada se convirtió en el símbolo de la libertad y la inclusión para "Pitu" Cordero, un vecino del Barrio Parque, que gracias a la solidaridad de Viviana Coria de Asís, logró que llegara a buenas manos.
Esta historia tiene dos protagonistas principales y luego se sumaron numerosas personas que se unieron a esta cruzada solidaria. En primer lugar, está Raúl Alberto "Pitu" Cordero, un vecino del Barrio Parque, quien desde su infancia enfrentó una enfermedad que limitó el desarrollo normal de sus extremidades inferiores, y hace unos años perdió la capacidad de caminar. "Desde pequeño sufría convulsiones que afectaron mucho su salud. Esto provocó problemas en sus piernas que se agravaron con el tiempo", explicó Norma Soria, la madre de Cordero.
Hace más de un mes, "Pitu" recibió de parte de una vecina de Frontera una bicicleta adaptada para que pudiera desplazarse por sus propios medios y visitar a sus amigos de la Cooperativa de Reciclado "La Virgencita" de Cáritas y a los vecinos del barrio. Estas bicicletas adaptadas son fabricadas por la Fundación Jean Maggi, una ONG que se dedica a entregar bicicletas adaptadas a personas con discapacidad motora, con el objetivo de brindarles movilidad, independencia y autonomía en diferentes espacios.
En 2022, la Municipalidad de San Francisco firmó un convenio para adquirir bicicletas adaptadas destinadas a vecinos de la ciudad con discapacidad motora que cumplían con los requisitos solicitados por la fundación para acceder a ellas.
A "Pitu" le cuesta expresarse con palabras, pero la fuerza que pone en sus brazos para mover el piñón y comenzar a andar lo dice todo. A pesar de su timidez, trata de explicar el significado de la palabra "libertad" y cómo la bicicleta le devolvió las ganas de reintegrarse a la sociedad. "La bici cambió mi vida. Ahora puedo ir donde quiero sin depender de nadie, antes siempre estaba encerrado. Todas las mañanas voy al galpón de la cooperativa y luego visito a los vecinos para tomar unos mates. Regreso a casa cerca del mediodía, cuando mi mamá está esperando para almorzar", relató.
Pero “Pitu” es fanático del fútbol y un apasionado por el club sanfrancisqueño Sportivo Belgrano. Como a él le cuesta expresar esas emisiones vamos a usar un tramo de la película argentina “El secreto de tus ojos” (2009), que el personaje de Guillermo Francella sintetiza la pasión que siente un hincha por los colores de un club:
“¿Te das cuenta, Benjamín? El tipo puede cambiar de todo: de cara, de casa, de familia, de novia, de religión, de Dios. Pero hay una cosa que no puede cambiar, Benjamín, no puede cambiar de pasión”, dice en un pasaje del film el actor argentino y “Pitu” a su manera se expresó sobre qué significó regresar al estadio Boero Romano.
“Una de las cosas que más alegría me dio tener la bici es que pude volver a la cancha a ver Sportivo Belgrano. Este lunes voy a ver al “verde” y eso pensaba que nunca más iba a pasar”, afirmó el sanfrancisqueño.
“Corazonada”
La otra protagonista de la historia es Viviana Coria de Asís, una chaqueña de pura cepa pero que hace muchos años está radicada en San Francisco. Ella está casada con Juan Carlos “Cacho” Asis, ex jugador de Sportivo Belgrano y bicicletero. La pareja tuvo cuatro hijos: Rocío, Gonzalo, Nicolás y Diego, un reconocido ex deportista sanfrancisqueño que integró la Selección Nacional de Ciclismo.
En esta historia, Viviana se convirtió en un puente de solidaridad al rescatar la bicicleta adaptada que se ofrecía en redes sociales como donación porque la persona a la que se le había sido asignado ya no la podía utilizar. “Al principio la pensé para mi mamá, pero que no cumplía con sus necesidades”, confesó la mujer.
Consciente del potencial, Viviana decidió intervenir para evitar que la bici terminara desarmada o vendido por partes en redes sociales.
Su iniciativa no se detuvo ahí. Con un seguimiento meticuloso, Coria contactó a Gonzalo Giuliano de Cáritas para asegurarse de que el triciclo llegara a alguien que realmente lo necesitara. Tras unos días de espera, recibió la grata noticia de que el triciclo había encontrado un nuevo hogar.
“A los pocos días, nos contactamos con Marcelo Suppo de Cáritas y nos contó la situación de “Pitu”. No tuve dudas que era para él y ahora que veo cómo la usa y que va a todos lados no puedo estar más feliz”, afirmó la mujer.
Para Coria, estas acciones solidarias son más que simples gestos; las llama "corazonadas". Esta dedicación nace de su experiencia personal, especialmente el caso de su nieta Xiomara, quien ha superado dos operaciones de corazón a pecho abierto. Este vínculo le inspira a ayudar a quienes lo necesitan, especialmente aquellos en situaciones difíciles, como los habitantes del Chaco, donde Coria y su familia han observado de cerca las necesidades.
Acompañada por su familia, Coria insta a la comunidad a ser más consciente de cómo donar y ayudar. Recomienda dirigirse a grupos solidarios como Cáritas para garantizar que las donaciones lleguen a quienes más las necesitan y que los objetos donados sean utilizados de manera integral.
Una rampa
Al finalizar la nota, Eva Ferreyra, miembro de la Cooperativa de La Virgencita, siempre atenta a lo que pasa en el barrio y sus necesidades contó que “Pitu” necesitaría una rampa para entrar y salir de su casa sin problemas.
“Su mamá no lo puede ayudar porque es muy pesada la bici y siempre tiene que esperar alguien que lo ayude. Los vecinos siempre están predispuestos pero con la bajada sería totalmente independiente”, sostuvo Eva.
La fundación
Fundación Jean Maggi es una organización privada sin fines de lucro creada para contribuir y aportar ayuda a los niños con discapacidad a través del deporte. Fue fundada en 2016 en Córdoba (Argentina) por Juan lgnacio Maggi y María Victoria Milano, con operaciones en Estados Unidos desde el año 2020: The Jean Maggi Fundation.
“Consideramos que el movimiento funciona como una excelente herramienta de inclusión donde la persona puede desarrollarse deportiva, personal y socialmente. Tantos los logros como los sacrificios son trasladables rápidamente a la vida diaria contribuyendo así al bienestar de las personas con discapacidad, a sus familias y a su entorno”, afirmaron desde la ONG.
