Pasión burrera
El cuidador de caballos puros de carrera, César Peralta, habló de la temporada 2020 vivida junto a la yegua "La Reliquia" y de su tarea en el hipódromo local.
Tuvo un 2020 de emociones encontradas, de la alegría a la amargura y viceversa. Un año de esos que siempre recordará y ya añadió a su historial ecuestre como cuidador de caballos, oficio que lleva en su ADN, un legado de abuelos y padre que él empezó a honrar desde su adolescencia allá en la localidad de La Para.
Hoy desempeña funciones en el hipódromo del Jockey Club San Francisco, atendiendo con suma responsabilidad a varios ejemplares puros de carrera los que son parte de su "familia", por aquello del estrecho vínculo afectivo que se entabla con el noble animal.
César Mario Peralta (50) en diálogo con LA VOZ DE SAN JUSTO habló de las experiencias vividas el año pasado con su mimada, la yegua "La Reliquia" o "La Joyita". Desde el gran triunfo en el Gran Premio Estrellas Sprint (G1) en Palermo opacado por el posterior doping y la revancha que supuso la obtención de La Carrera del Año en el hipódromo sanfrancisqueño para ingresar en el cuadro de honor de la clásica del kilómetro..
Así también evocó sus inicios en su profesión, la que conlleva una ardua tarea diaria en el stud y que no sabe de feriados o de cambios de clima, pero desarrollada siempre con total vocación. Una charla sincera, transparente en la que se pudo observar que él es feliz entre sus caballos, los que son su vocación y su vida.
-¿Ganar La Carrera de las Estrellas fue la máxima alegría en tu vida deportiva aunque después la suspensión por doping fue lo más doloroso?
-Haber ganado La Carrera de las Estrellas con "La Reliquia" fue lo más, porque era la primera vez que la corría y la ganamos, una alegría que no se puede describir con palabras lo que se siente, pero muy doloroso a la vez por el tema del doping.
En los estudios realizados en Francia la yegua dio una secuela de un medicamento, lo que más nos extrañó es que los doping salen como máximo a los 18 días y a nosotros nos avisaron a los 42 días, pero bueno, son cosas que pasan, no creo que haya un cuidador que no lo hayan suspendido "por h o por b" pero fue algo muy doloroso porque por ahí te pueden suspender por una carrera común, pero en una carrera de las estrellas es lo más doloroso que un cuidador puede sentir.
-¿Te sentiste perjudicado?
-Perjudicado no sé, porque hay gente que te juzga por algunas cosas y otras no, hay quienes saben mucho de turf y otras nada y siempre los que hablan un poco demás son precisamente estos últimos.
Son cosas que les puede pasar a cualquiera, uno no lo hizo intencionalmente, nosotros reglamentariamente trabajamos con todo lo mejor posible y repito, fue una cosa que le pueda pasar a cualquiera, llevaron la muestra a Francia y dio secuelas de clembuterol.
Pese a ello no aflojamos, seguimos para adelante porque sabíamos que tenemos una buena yegua.
-¿En ese sentido la victoria en La Carrera del Año fue una especie de revancha? ¿Demostraron que la yegua no necesitaba nada extra para vencer?
-Así es, lo demostró en La Carrera del Año donde corrió con el nombre de La Joyita y eso que no estaba diez puntos, estimo que la mitad, porque andaba con un problemas de tos y mucosidad, no estaba en su esplendor y así mismo ganó cómodamente.
Pero quisimos correrla porque consideramos que es una yegua muy interesante, a veces los caballos buenos, con poco, igual siguen siendo buenos, pudo demostrar que estando cinco puntos es una yegua buena, así que en marzo hay un clásico de grupo 3 en Palermo y si va todo bien lo estaríamos corriendo.
-¿Qué significan para vos los caballos?
-Para mí los caballos son mi familia, queridos, mimados, uno está de la mañana hasta la noche conviviendo con ellos y eso despierta un gran afecto.
-¿Cómo te iniciaste en el turf?
-Nací en Hernando pero me crié en La Para. Este oficio lo heredé de mis abuelos que tuvieron caballos de carrera y carnicería, mi papá siguió con lo mismo. Lo de los caballos para ellos era un hobby, se trabaja en la semana en la carnicería y el domingo había que salir a correr.
A mí me gustaba pero de otra forma, poder dedicarle más tiempo. El sueño era cuidar un caballo puro.
Mi primer caballo puro fue una yegua que se llamaba Tai Risueña de La Para que la corría un chico Martín Gudiño y el dueño era Gabriel Valenciano, ganamos un par de carreras. Pero un día conocí a Luis Grimaldi del cual mi papá era conocido porque siempre les compraba animales para la carnicería, y así empezamos, deje la carnicería para cuidar sus caballos y correr las cuadreras.
-Hay tener vocación y cariño por los animales...
-Hay que tener vocación y dedicarle mucho tiempo a un caballo de carrera, no es solo decir vamos a correr, se necesita tiempo, paciencia, enseñarle que es lo que tiene que hacer y lograr un montón de cosas para que corra una carrera.
Hay caballos un poco nerviosos a los que hay que tenerle más paciencia que a otros que te llevan a hacer las cosas más fáciles. Es darle cariño y mucho trabajo, con el caballo de carrera tenes muchas satisfacciones pero también tragos amargos.
-¿Sacrificar a un caballo es lo más desgarrador de esta actividad?
-Sí, me tocó una vez en el hipódromo de Córdoba, es horrible no se lo deseo a nadie, ver los dueños llorar por que no tiene vuelta a atrás, cuando el caballo se lesiona no hay vuelta atrás, hay que sacrificarlo. No me gusta hablar de ese tema, a los que nos apasionan los caballos son cosas que no quisiera que no nos pase nunca.
-¿Cómo es un día en el stud?
-Se arranca a la mañana temprano donde los chicos empiezan a atar los caballos en sus lugares y limpian las camas, se pone la comida, y después sacamos de a uno los caballos donde cada uno hace su trabajo, como trote, galope.
Cuando vienen de entrenar si hace calor se los baña, seca, se caminan, si están acalorados se les pone un ventilador, los días miércoles se sacan los caballos más delicados, sobre todo las yeguas de tiro. Ese es el trabajo de todos los días, haga frío o calor, llueva o no, tenemos que estar.
Los chicos que trabajan conmigo que son el "Bati" (Mirko Aquino), Federico Daró, Giovani Candiano, y Agustín Gallardo que nos da una mano.
-¿Qué deseos tenes para el año 2021?
-Ojalá que tengamos un 2021 muy favorable para el turf, que sigamos trabajando y que sigan los triunfos.
-¿Algo para agregar?
-Solamente palabras de agradecimiento para el Jockey Club San Francisco que nos ha brindado todo, a la persona de Andrés Balkenende que siempre insistió para que viniésemos y hoy estoy con mi hijo Gonzalo que agregó unos caballos más y tenemos alrededor de 40 en el stud.
También agradecer a quienes me apoyaron como José Michelotti, Claudio Funes y mucha gente que empuja para adelante al Jockey Club que está en un gran nivel.
Y por supuesto a la familia Grimaldi, al "Gringo" José Luis, sus hijos Luis, Lucas y su nieto Luciano.
