Palmeiras, el nuevo “rey” de América
Con un gol agónico de Breno, el "Verdao" se impuso por 1-0 sobre Santos en el estadio Maracaná y se coronó campeón por segunda vez de la Copa Libertadores, el máximo torneo continental.
Palmeiras, con un tanto agónico en el octavo minuto de descuento, le ganó este sábado 1 a 0 a Santos la final de la Copa Libertadores de América, disputada en el estadio Maracaná de Río de Janeiro, y se consagró campeón del certamen continental por segunda vez en su historia.
Cuando el encuentro parecía encaminarse irremediablemente al alargue, Rony lanzó un centro cruzado desde la derecha, Breno apareció por detrás de Pará y con un preciso cabezazo marcó el gol, batiendo a John, que se quedó parado.
El "testazo" de Breno sorprendió a propios y extraños, ya que las llegadas de riesgo fueron una excepción a lo largo de todo el encuentro.
De hecho el trámite de la final -dirigida por el argentino Patricio Loustau- fue friccionado, con permanentes faltas y discusiones, por lo que prácticamente no hubo remates frente a los arcos.
Gracias al título -su segunda Libertadores tras la lograda en 1999- el "Verdao" embolsó 12 millones de dólares y otros 3 más por asegurarse un lugar en la fase de grupos de la edición 2021.
También disputará el Mundial de Clubes en Qatar, entre el 4 y 11 de febrero, y la Recopa Sudamericana, que definirá en marzo con Defensa y Justicia -campeón de la Sudamericana-.
Hacía 15 años, con el duelo entre el Inter de Porto Alegre y San Pablo, que dos brasileños no definían la Copa Libertadores, con el condimento de que en esta edición, Santos y Palmeiras habían eliminado a Boca y River, respectivamente, en semifinales.
