“Mi esposo murió de covid, al vacunarme pensé en él”
El testimonio de una trabajadora del Hospital Iturraspe tras recibir la primera dosis de la Sputnik V. "Nada lo va a traer de vuelta, pero la vacuna me da esperanza", confesó Natalia y aseguró que ese martes, un coctel de sentimientos encontrados le recorrió el cuerpo.

La expectativa de inmunidad ya corre por la sangre de unos 400 trabajadores sanitarios del departamento San Justo, y en los próximos días, una cifra similar recibirá las ansiadas primeras dosis de la vacuna rusa contra la Covid -19.
Natalia Elizabeth Sosa forma parte de ese primer eslabón en una vacunación histórica que implicó una operación de logística sin precedentes en el Hospital "J. B. Iturraspe", pero para esta sanfrancisqueña de 32 años, ese pinchazo en el brazo marcó además el principio del fin de un drama que conoce muy bien, y en carne propia.
A Natalia un auténtico cóctel de emociones le recorrió el cuerpo el pasado martes. Lleva siete meses trabajando en el servicio de limpieza del nosocomio provincial y recibir la Sputnik V hizo que sintiera por fin un poco de esperanza. En noviembre, el coronavirus se llevó a su esposo y padre de su hija, Carlos Daniel Luque, de 44 años. Ella también se contagió.
"Mi corazón latía muy rápido. Tenía ganas de llorar, de tristeza, de injusticia, pero a la vez de emoción. Mi marido falleció de covid. Nada lo va a traer de vuelta, pero la vacuna me da esperanza de que haya menos pacientes sufriendo", contó sobre su sensación tras vacunarse Natalia, quien a diario convive con la compleja realidad que rodea el cuidado de enfermos con el virus.
Vio personas pelearla, recuperarse, morir, sufrir. "Pensé en Daniel, cerré los ojos y confié -siguió-. Para mí, poder vacunarme significa poder estar con mi hija. Me dio fuerzas y esperanzas en este año tan difícil".

Junto a Natalia, la primera de las dos dosis que requiere la vacuna elaborada por el centro Gamaleya les fue administrada a otros trabajadores del sistema sanitario público y privado: médicos de guardia, del área Covid, de la Terapia Intensiva, enfermeros, choferes de ambulancia, kinesiólogos, laboratoristas, entre otros.
"En un momento pensé: la vacuna llegó tarde; podría haber evitado la muerte de Daniel. Se me pasaron muchas cosas por la cabeza, fue muy movilizador", agregó la joven sobre esos sentimientos encontrados que le provocó la vacuna, además de cefalea y molestias en el brazo, algunas de las reacciones adversas de la Sputnik V.
Expuesta al virus
Natalia fue parte de un primer grupo reducido de 9 personas del servicio de limpieza y mantenimiento de centros de salud designadas para recibir la vacuna. "Yo estoy muy cerca del virus, por mi trabajo, muy expuesta. Daniel siempre me decía que estaba en la zona roja, por eso no me permití dudar antes de responder a la convocatoria para la vacunación". Natalia tuvo coronavirus, pero ante el riesgo de una posible reinfección, priorizó la salud por sobre cualquier incertidumbre.
En medio de la cuarentena que dejó al matrimonio sin un ingreso económico fijo, a Natalia la requirieron desde la empresa privada que se encarga de la limpieza en el Hospital Iturraspe. Desde junio trabaja en esa área que también está en la "primera línea" frente a la Covid -19, siempre tomando medidas de protección necesarias y cumpliendo el protocolo, pero el riesgo de enfermarse es mayor en comparación con la población general.
"Al principio trabajé en la Unidad de Terapia Intensiva (UTI), de las 6 hasta las 12. Luego, cuando enviudé me pasaron a la tarde para acomodarme mejor con mi nena. Siempre fueron muy considerados conmigo, me ayudaron, y se los agradezco mucho. Ahora estoy en el piso. Significa que estuve en todos los servicios y cerca del virus", dijo.
"Daniel empezó a tener síntomas. En mi caso, fui asintomática, sentía un poco de dolor de cabeza y en el pecho, se me cerraba, aunque creo que era más por la angustia de ver mal a mi marido que por la enfermedad. Él estuvo en casa 7 días aislado, su cuadro se complicó y lo internaron en el Hospital, al otro día lo intubaron (respiración asistida) y lo dejaron en la Terapia. Las funciones respiratorias y de los riñones empezaron a fallarle, luego el corazón, y 17 de noviembre, falleció", recordó.
"Daniel tenía un poco de sobrepeso, podría haber tenido algo de diabetes también, pero sobre todo, estaba deprimido porque hacía 4 meses que había fallecido su papá y eso agravó su cuadro y el virus me lo arrebató", agregó.
"Me hubiese alentado a vacunarme"
La crisis del coronavirus dejó a ambos sin trabajo. Daniel se dedicaba a la seguridad privada y Natalia, al servicio doméstico. Se las rebuscaron con algunas changas pero no era lo mismo. La plata que ingresaba al hogar no alcanzaba, entonces, cuando salió el trabajo para la limpieza del Hospital, sin pensarlo demasiado, decidieron que podía ser una salida, y aunque evaluaron el peligro, no podían descartar la única posibilidad de volver a contar con un salario mensual.
"Recuerdo que en septiembre, cuando se registró un pico de casos de covid, veía muchos pacientes que eran ingresados a la Terapia. Llegaba a mi casa cansada, llorando por ver esa situación tan triste, porque muchos de ellos fallecían".

"Nosotros nos cuidamos siempre, llegaba, me cambiaba de ropa, hasta me bañaba dos veces antes de abrazar a mi familia, pero el virus está en todos lados, a todos nos puede tocar. Daniel era muy respetuoso del aislamiento, le daban bronca esas personas que subestiman la enfermedad, que salen y van a fiestas clandestinas, reuniones con mucha gente. Él desconfiaba de la vacuna rusa, pero creo que si hoy estuviera vivo, me hubiese alentado a vacunarme".
Otra decisión
Si bien muchos aspectos entorno a la vacunación contra la Covid -19 todavía están en estudio, por indicación médica Natalia tenía que interrumpir el período de lactancia si iba a vacunarse. Otra decisión que tuvo que tomar.
Mientras la ciencia avanza en datos sobre la seguridad de las vacunas en mujeres lactantes o embarazadas, a Natalia le recomendaron no seguir amamantando a su hija Evangelina Eluney Luque, de 2 años. "Fue otra decisión que debí tomar. Aunque le di la teta durante mucho tiempo, la vacunación me obligó a dejar de hacerlo y ella y yo lo entendimos. Ese era un momento de conexión increíble entre nosotras, pero esto es para cuidarnos a las dos, porque mi hija es mi razón de vivir, quien me da fuerzas para seguir adelante. Sé que Daniel hoy está en un lugar mejor y desde allí nos sigue cuidando", añadió.
El sueño de ser enfermera
La pandemia que cambió el mundo también impactó en la elección vocacional. Ya existen estadísticas de instituciones formadoras en salud que revelan que las carreras sanitarias están entre las preferidas.
En el caso de Natalia, estudiar una carrera universitaria relacionada con la salud era un proyecto que analizaban con su esposo y que el coronavirus postergó. Años atrás hicieron cursos afines y ella también se recibió de paramédica, en Enfermería Domiciliaria y Clínica en el Ciep.
"Mi anhelo es llegar a ser algún día enfermera profesional, mientras tanto, si puedo ayudar a la comunidad desde el lugar que ocupe en el sistema de salud, para mí ya es muy importante y más aún en tiempos difíciles como este", concluyó.
