Malvinas y el Brexit
La decisión de la Unión Europea de no reconocer en el acuerdo del Brexit a las colonias británicas -toda una rémora de un mundo que forma parte del pasado- tal vez sea, sin haberlo pretendido explícitamente, un respaldo más que importante a un reclamo histórico, que lleva casi dos siglos.
A 188 años de la ocupación ilegal británica de las islas Malvinas, el gobierno nacional emitió un comunicado en el que ratificó la necesidad de que Gran Bretaña preste atención a los reclamos por la soberanía del archipiélago: "La negativa del Reino Unido a cumplir con la obligación de reanudar las negociaciones por la soberanía se encuentra agravada por la continuas acciones de exploración y explotación de recursos naturales", manifestó.
Al mismo tiempo, se reclamó que Gran Bretaña "escuche el reclamo de la comunidad internacional y reinicie el diálogo para resolver de forma pacífica" en conflicto en torno a la soberanía. También se afirmó que "hoy más que nunca es necesario que el Reino Unido escuche el reclamo de la comunidad internacional, reinicie el diálogo para resolver de forma pacífica la disputa por la soberanía sobre las islas Malvinas y cumpla con la resolución 2065 de la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas".
Cabe señalar que el pasado 3 de enero se cumplieron 188 años de la intempestiva irrupción de fuerzas del Reino Unido en las islas, que desalojaron a la población y a las autoridades argentinas allí establecidas legítimamente, para reemplazarlas por súbditos británicos. Desde allí comenzó una batalla diplomática que aún persiste, con una guerra absurda en el medio y con vaivenes notables en la diplomacia argentina para encauzar el reclamo soberano que tiene justos, contundentes y legítimos argumentos.
El reclamo del gobierno nacional seguramente no será escuchado en Londres, como ha ocurrido casi siempre. Pero algunas circunstancias de la política internacional actual dan cuenta de que existe un terreno quizás más fértil para que crezca la presión diplomática mundial para que se produzca algún tipo de negociación. Es que en la negociación por la salida del Reino Unido de la Unión Europea fueron excluidos los territorios británicos de ultramar, entre ellos Malvinas, por lo cual no habrá ninguna preferencia arancelaria ni exenciones o beneficios comerciales, impositivos y aduaneros como gozan hasta ahora. En adelante cada posesión británica que desee comercializar en el mercado comunitario lo deberá hacer como cualquier otra nación mediante convenio bilateral.
Esto significa un duro golpe para la economía malvinense. Porque a partir del Brexit el sector pesquero de las islas debe renegociar con los países europeos sus acuerdos que suponen el 75% de los ingresos totales de la población. Asimismo, según las primeras estimaciones, los habitantes británicos de las islas Malvinas podrían empezar a pagar aranceles de entre el 6% y el 18%, por los productos que quieran ingresar al mercado europeo.

Y en este punto, las razones históricas, geográficas y políticas de la Argentina siempre han tenido un amplio apoyo de la comunidad internacional.
