Las variantes Delta y Ómicron se detectaron desde inicios de diciembre
De acuerdo al análisis de aguas residuales Ómicron se detectó el 13 de diciembre y Delta desde el 6 en Córdoba.
El análisis de aguas residuales en Córdoba capital dio cuenta que desde diciembre circulan las variantes de covid Delta y Ómicron.
Gisela Masachessi, viróloga, investigadora adjunta del Conicet y del Instituto de Virología de la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, indicó a Cadena 3 que se detectó a Ómicron desde el 13 de diciembre y la Delta desde el 6 de diciembre.
"Desde Epidemiología estudiamos las aguas residuales, desde el principio de la pandemia, para ver la dinámica de circulación del virus en la población y la posibilidad de anunciar la introducción de nuevas variantes", explicó.
En este sentido, indicó que "hasta el 6 de diciembre no había presencia de la Delta en cloacas, por la baja de casos. Recordemos que estábamos saliendo de la segunda ola. El 6 de diciembre se detectó, lo que habla de una gran circulación. Y una semana después, el 13 de diciembre, detectamos Ómicron en circulación".

Respecto al estudio, indicó que se estudia el genoma del virus en aguas cloacales para buscar mutaciones compatibles con Delta o con Ómicron.
"Es la misma metodología para saber si una persona está infectada con una u otra variante y las aguas residuales es un resumen de todo lo que está circulando. Se empezó a usar para la poliomielitis: cuando se detectaba en las cloacas el genoma de polio, se empezaba con campañas masivas de vacunación", explicó.
El estudio es llevado por el Ministerio de Salud de Córdoba, el Laboratorio de la Provincia, la Municipalidad de Córdoba, la Cooperativa de Carlos Paz y la UNC.
