Las calles de los que hicieron crecer a San Francisco
Las calles Intendente Cartier, en barrio Hospital, y Senador Juan B. Fassi, en La Florida, en el sector norte de la ciudad, resguardan la historia de dos hombres que llegaron para ser protagonistas de su pujanza.
Los nombres Intendente Cartier y Senador Juan B. Fassi ya se visualizan en los nomencladores recientemente colocados en barrios Hospital y La Florida, respectivamente.
Raimundo Cartier como ingeniero y Juan B. Fassi en su rol de abogado, llegaron desde Francia y la localidad de Sastre (Santa Fe), ejerciendo su profesión y fuerin protagonistas del crecimiento de San Francisco. Además, tuvieron su lugar de importancia en el ámbito social y político local.
Ubicadas en el sector norte, la calle Intendente Cartier fue bautizada así el 22 de noviembre de 1937 mediante la ordenanza Nº618 con vigencia desde el 1 de enero de 1938 durante la intendencia de Raúl G. Villafañe.
La otra, que lleva el nombre de Senador Juan B. Fassi, fue declarada el 31 de octubre de 1972 por la ordenanza Nº421 bajo el mandato de Guillermo J. Peretti, aunque vale aclarar que originariamente se denominó "cortada D".
Calles anchas
Raimundo Cartier llegó al país desde Francia en 1883 durante la presidencia de Julio Argentino Roca contratado para dirigir las obras sanitarias de Buenos Aires en Berazategui y Quilmes. También tuvo a su cargo los trabajos de los puertos del ferrocarril Central Córdoba, y tiempo después, se radicó en San Francisco para hacerse cargo de la dirección del trazado de la nueva línea de la Compañía Francesa de Ferrocarriles San Francisco - Villa María.
Además, en su calidad de ingeniero, fue el encargado de proyectar el trazado de las anchas calles del ejido urbano de San Francisco. De hecho, su labor también se destacó en la Comisión de Fomento -la primera creada por el gobierno de la provincia de Córdoba- de la cual fue presidente en 1893 hasta la intendencia de Benjamín Dávila.
Juan Bautista Fassi, que nació en Sastre, se destacaba en la labor del derecho aportando su criterio para el crecimiento edilicio de la ciudad.
En La Florida, la calle Senador Juan B. Fassi ya tiene nomenclador
Hombres de política
De acuerdo al relato de José Alberto Navarro en su libro "Las calles de San Francisco", el involucramiento de estos hombres con San Francisco también tuvo su costado político.
Cartier fue electo concejal en dos períodos y se desempeñó como intendente interino desde abril desde 1905 a principios de 1906.
En el caso de Fassi, militó en las filas de la Unión Cívica Radical y en su representación fue jefe político del departamento en los años 1940/1941 y senador provincial entre 1942 y 1943.
Además, fue candidato a intendente municipal en las elecciones del 25 de abril de 1954 que fueron ganadas por el peronismo.
Estos dos hombres "escribieron" no solo la historia política sino también la base de una ciudad pujante.
