La peligrosa drunkorexia: cambiar comida por alcohol
Este nuevo trastorno alimentario combina el alcoholismo y la anorexia, se da con mayor frecuencia entre adolescentes y puede causar serios daños en la salud. Desde Proeso explican cuáles son los síntomas y cómo debe abordarse el tratamiento.

Hay varias clases de trastornos de la conducta alimentaria, dentro de ellos se encuentra la nociva "drunkorexia", una forma de adicción al alcohol que hace que la persona deje de comer para priorizar la ingesta de bebidas alcohólicas.

se recomienda en ningún caso. Aunque está socialmente aceptado, se considera
que es una droga capaz de generar tolerancia y adicción.
¿Qué es y por qué es tan peligrosa?. Integrantes del equipo de Proeso que realiza abordajes interdisciplinarios en desórdenes alimentarios de nuestra ciudad, explicaron a LA VOZ DE SAN JUSTO que la drunkorexia, también conocida como "alcohorexia", es un trastorno no especificado (Tane).
El equipo de profesionales está compuesto por las psicólogas Mariana Bernarte y Cecilia Magni, las nutricionistas Carolina Taborda y Natalia Casalis, los médicos: clínico, Mauro Castellano, la pediatra Cecilia Bur y el psiquiatra, Pablo Lanzetti.
Afirmaron que en este caso "se combinan dos patologías: la anorexia y el alcoholismo. Los Tane son cuadros mixtos o tienen algunos síntomas y otros no, de los trastornos alimentarios clásicos".
"Se caracteriza por la negativa a comer, o restricción alimentaria extrema durante la semana, para el fin de semana poder tomar alcohol en exceso y evitar subir de peso por el aumento de las calorías del alcohol", explicaron.
Un cuerpo "perfecto"
Esta problemática se da con mayor frecuencia entre adolescentes y jóvenes. "Fundamentalmente en adolescentes con una preocupación excesiva por no querer subir de peso, pero que al mismo tiempo tienen una ingesta desmedida de alcohol", aseguraron los profesionales.
Remarcaron que las bases sobre las que se sustenta este nuevo desorden alimentario "son las de querer tener un cuerpo 'perfecto' unido a la supuesta aceptación social que tiene para los adolescentes el tomar alcohol".
Atención a los síntomas
La drunkorexia tiene varias señales y es importante estar atentos para identificarlas y consultar precozmente para comenzar un tratamiento.
Se pueden notar en la persona cambios importantes en la ingesta de alimentos como: comer muy lento o menos cantidad de lo habitual, saltear comidas, dejar de consumir algunos alimentos, evitar comer frente a otros, evitar compartir los momentos de comidas con otras personas, explicaron los profesionales.
Añadieron que también se observa "un miedo intenso a engordar, preocupación excesiva por la imagen corporal, por la comida o el peso; y un gran consumo de alcohol fundamentalmente en reuniones sociales".
"Esto tiene consecuencias tanto físicas como psicológicas, tales como desnutrición, problemas hepáticos, daño cerebral y cardíaco, fallas de memoria, desmayos, depresión, trastornos cognitivos y se aumenta el riesgo de los efectos del alcohol", advirtieron.
¿Cómo es el tratamiento?
Desde Proeso afirmaron que es "fundamental realizar un tratamiento interdisciplinario -que incluya el área nutricional, psicológica y médica- e integral en el abordaje de los trastornos alimentarios, ya que son patologías complejas que afectan distintas áreas de la vida de las personas. Preocupa el abuso de alcohol entre los adolescentes y jóvenes
Adolescentes en riesgo
La Sociedad Argentina de Pediatría (SAP) advirtió sobre los riesgos de la ingesta excesiva de alcohol en los menores de edad con la llegada de las vacaciones y llamó a mantener una comunicación fluida con los jóvenes por el consumo.
"La adolescencia es una etapa de experimentación, de sensación de omnipotencia, de búsqueda del riesgo y de cuestionamiento de las normas. En ese contexto, el alcohol es la droga de más fácil acceso para niños y adolescentes, mientras que la percepción de riesgo asociado al consumo de alcohol es la más baja entre todas las sustancias adictivas", sostuvo Graciela Morales, médica pediatra especialista en adolescencia y secretaria del Grupo de Trabajo en Adicciones de la SAP.
Desde la SAP explicaron que el alcohol es la sustancia psicoactiva más utilizada en todas las edades, y citaron un estudio del Observatorio de Drogas de la Secretaría de Programación para la Prevención de la Drogadicción y Lucha contra el Narcotráfico (Sedronar) de 2017, que señaló que 60,5% de los chicos y chicas de entre 12 y 17 años lo consumió, y de ese grupo 47% lo había hecho en forma excesiva y en más de una oportunidad.
"El alcohol se distribuye por el cuerpo y se elimina en un 90% por el hígado y, el resto, por los pulmones, riñón y sudor. Debido a esta difusión por todo el organismo, más allá de los efectos psíquicos -que son los que primero se perciben-, el alcohol actúa también sobre los diferentes órganos del cuerpo", alertó Marta Eugenia Braschi, médica pediatra y toxicóloga.
La especialista indicó que "los daños corporales se producen, por tanto, con el uso continuado de cantidades de alcohol que el organismo tiene dificultades para metabolizar, aunque el consumidor no perciba ningún peligro".
Las especialistas aseveraron que el consumo de alcohol en la adolescencia interfiere con el crecimiento, la nutrición y el desarrollo de la personalidad, a la vez que aumenta las posibilidades de sufrir un accidente al realizar actividades tales como deportes, conducción de motos y autos, o en salidas recreativas.
"Los efectos sobre cada individuo dependen de diversos factores como la cantidad total bebida, en cuánto tiempo se ingiere, el peso corporal, el género, la edad, el humor o el estado de ánimo, el ambiente en el que se consume y la administración de medicamentos o de otras drogas", explicó Morales.
Un adolescente varón, de aproximadamente 65 kilos, necesita más de ocho horas para eliminar totalmente el alcohol de su organismo.
En el caso de una adolescente mujer, con un peso medio de 55 kilos, la eliminación total no se produce hasta pasadas las diez horas.
El factor de mayor influencia sobre la velocidad de absorción es la cantidad de alimento que se encuentra en el estómago en el momento que el alcohol ingresa a ese órgano, explicaron.
Las médicas aclararon que el consumo de alcohol en la adolescencia se diferencia del de los adultos con consumo crónico porque incluye un patrón de consumo excesivo, pero centrado generalmente en tiempos de ocio, como los fines de semana, vacaciones, dando lugar a nuevas problemáticas como los cuadros de intoxicación.
Braschi explicó que "el consumo episódico y abusivo de alcohol puede producir alteración en la maduración cerebral, mayor predisposición a progresar en la adicción, síndrome del 'corazón festivo' pérdida de control de diversas situaciones como las relaciones sexuales sin cuidados y del estado de conciencia".
Hablar con los chicos y confiar en ellos
Desde la SAP resaltaron que se debe conversar con los jóvenes sobre los consumos de alcohol y confiar en ellos. "Debemos comenzar desde pequeños a formar en nuestros hijos el juicio crítico, a obtener habilidades para la resolución de conflictos y en el manejo del enojo, habilidades de comunicación asertivas, autonomía gradual a través de fomentar responsabilidades de acuerdo con la edad, dialogar con énfasis en la escucha, enseñarles valores, educar con límites y, por sobre todo, recordar que el ejemplo es valioso: si los padres consumen en exceso, es difícil exigirle al adolescente que no lo haga", afirmaron.
A continuación brindaron una serie de recomendaciones:
• Las reuniones con amigos post brindis familiar volverán. Durante el encierro, los adolescentes se han adaptado a la falta de contacto con sus pares y con sus docentes, a utilizar más tiempo las pantallas, a compartir con sus padres y/o hermanos el espacio (a desgano), a ver disminuida su privacidad.
• Los mismos síntomas del aislamiento social como la desorganización, la dificultad para concentrarse, el sentimiento permanente de aburrimiento son disparadores permanentes de consumo de sustancias en este grupo etario.
• Es lógico pensar entonces que al empezar a salir con sus amigos comiencen o continúen consumiendo, especialmente alcohol.
• No podemos prohibirles que salgan, debemos confiar en ellos.
• Armar redes saludables entre los mismos padres, tomemos conciencia para que los chicos no tomen riesgo. Esta es la ecuación.
• Buscar información suficiente y sólida para contrarrestar lo mucho que los chicos saben respecto de las sustancias desde una mirada omnipotente y sectorizada.
• Pensar estrategias para que las fiestas puedan ser seguras, y no negociar lo innegociable, la salud de los chicos.
• Detectar "líderes positivos" dentro del grupo de chicos y fortalecerlos para que puedan, ellos también desde adentro del grupo, transmitir conciencia.
Ser realistas, si sabemos que van a consumir, sugerirles que:
* Si van a tomar, comer algo antes y durante el consumo
* El alcohol deshidrata, es importante tomar agua al mismo tiempo. Es menos nocivo si la última copa es de agua o jugo.
* No mezcla diferentes bebidas alcohólicas entre sí, ni alcohol con otras drogas.
* No alternar con las llamadas "bebidas energéticas"
* No compartir vasos ni botellas
* Respetar y hacer respetar el protocolo de cuidados establecido (distanciamiento, cantidad de participantes en reuniones en lugares cerrados, uso del tapabocas).
* Cuidarse a sí mismos y a los amigos
* Si un amigo está intoxicado, con vómitos, ponerlo en decúbito lateral izquierdo para evitar que se aspire
* Mantener la temperatura corporal. No desnudarlo ni mojarlo. No provocarle el vómito.
* Solicitar ayuda y acompañarlo hasta que la ayuda llegue.
