Francisco Cerúndolo dio el golpe y venció a Alexander Zverev en el Masters 1000 de Madrid
El único argentino que sigue en carrera en la capital española bajó al quinto mejor tenista del ranking ATP: fue 6-3 y 6-4 en una gran exhibición de tenis de Fran para avanzar a cuartos de final, donde enfrentará a Fritz.
Francisco Cerúndolo (22°), segundo mejor tenista argentino del ranking ATP, tachó por 6-3 y 6-4 a Alexander Zverev (5°) en el Estadio Arantxa Sánchez, por los octavos de final del Masters 1000 de Madrid. El bonaerense dio el golpe y jugará los cuartos ante Taylor Fritz (13°).
Cerúndolo se adueñó del primer set ante Zverev por 6-3: en un grandísimo nivel, Cerúndolo se llevó la primera manga ante el número 5 del mundo. Fue 6-3 tras quebrar en el octavo game.
Cerúndolo no aflojó y lo ganó en el segundo set: el argentino continuó palazo tras palazo y batió al alemán, uno de los mejores tenistas del circuito, por 6-4 en el segundo set tras quebrarle en el tercer game y mantener firme la diferencia hasta el final. Partidazo de Cerúndolo, que se medirá en cuartos de final ante Taylor Fritz (13°), quien venció 7-6 (2) y 6-4 a Hubert Hurkacz (9°).
