Federico Higuaín renovó contrato con Inter Miami
El delantero argentino Federico Higuaín renovó su contrato por un año con Inter Miami de la Major League Soccer (MLS) de Estados Unidos, y seguirá -junto con su hermano Gonzalo- en la franquicia de Florida.
Inter Miami hizo oficial la renovación de Federico, de 36 años y exjugador de River, Nueva Chicago, Independiente, Godoy Cruz, Colón, Columbus y DC United de la MLS, quien fue contratado por dos años el pasado 10 de octubre, pocas semanas después la llegada de su hermano Gonzalo procedente de Juventus de Italia.
Chris Henderson, el nuevo director deportivo del Inter Miami, señaló en un comunicado difundido por la página del club que "Federico es una herramienta valiosa para el equipo no solo por lo que puede aportar en el campo, sino también por lo que aporta en el vestuario, con experiencia, actitud positiva y profesionalismo".
El delantero apenas participó en cuatro de los siete partidos que restaban de campaña, todos ellos como suplente y con un total de 20 minutos jugados.
La semana pasada el equipo de Miami contrató al técnico inglés Phil Neville, excompañero del inglés David Beckham en el Manchester United y la selección inglesa, como relevo del destituido uruguayo Diego Alonso.
Los Higuaín son la 18ª pareja de hermanos en jugar como compañeros de un equipo de la MLS.
El Inter Miami, copropiedad de Beckham, está reestructurando su dirección deportiva tras los decepcionantes resultados en su temporada de debut, en la que quedó eliminado en el repechaje a los playoffs.
Los otros argentinos que juegan en Inter Miami son Nicolás Figal (exIndependiente), Matías Pellegrini (exEstudiantes de La Plata), Leandro Gonzalez Pirez (exRiver, Arsenal, Estudiantes y Tigre) y Julián Carranza (exBanfield).
