Desolador: encontraron más de 50 ballenas muertas en la costa
El hallazgo se produjo en Islandia y aún no se sabe qué originó las muertes de los cetáceos.
"Muy triste"
Así calificó la escena encontrada el piloto del helicóptero que acompañaba a los turistas, que hallaron a más de 50 cetáceos muertos durante una excursión. "Podrían haber sido más. Algunos ya estaban enterrados en la arena", comentó David Schwarzhans, que manejaba la nave, quien agregó que lo que vieron era "una escena muy triste".
Por ahora no hay explicaciones científicas de lo que les puede haber ocurrido a los animales que quedaron enterrados en la arena. Una versión preliminar habla de una confusión colectiva y de que las ballenas se habrían acercado a la costa y muerto por deshidratación.
El tipo de ballenas que murieron son los calderones, especie que se encuentra entre las que quedan varadas con mayor frecuencia. Los especialistas cuentan que estos ejemplares mantienen estrechos vínculos entre sí, por lo que si una ballena de gran importancia social queda varada, acabarán todas juntas.
