Cuando tres muchachos pusieron a girar el sol
Tres muchachos hicieron un disco con el que se desafiaron a ellos mismos, al éxito, a varias leyes establecidas y a Dios. Se preguntaron: ¿qué pasa si la Tierra deja de girar alrededor del sol?, ¿qué pasa cuando es el sol el que empieza a girar alrededor de una melodía? Tomemos una canción, sus sustantivos, algunos de sus verbos y adjetivos, metámoslos en sus propios remolinos y dejemos que salpiquen una hoja.

La teoría heliocéntrica postula que nuestra tierra, nuestro mundo, gira alrededor del sol.
En 1992, tres muchachos concibieron un flujo eléctrico de música, como una constelación de energía sónica bajo la forma de un disco, y le pusieron el nombre "Dynamo".
Este trabajo, este universo, tiene una canción que es de algún modo su sinécdoque, la parte que representa al todo. Se llama "En remolinos". El título es hasta prescindible: no puedo encontrar muchos otros ejemplos de metáforas musicales tan perfectas como ésta, en donde los sonidos transmiten con precisión aquello de lo que se está hablando. La canción es un torbellino que envuelve al oyente y lo lleva en un viaje frenético en medio de la tormenta hasta un lugar en el que hay sol y crecen las flores. Es la vida. Es la muerte. Es el universo girando. Es Dios.
Para 1992, ese trío estaba en la cresta de la ola. Con todos los flashes y resplandores encima, eligieron tirarse de cabeza hacia lo más profundo. El trabajo anterior había dejado una vara muy alta con una andanada de hits que coreaban miles y miles de personas en Hispanoamérica. Lejos de descansar en un hipotético séptimo día, el cantante y compositor principal, Gustavo, no se propuso emular el éxito, sino florecer hacia otra perfección.
Cansados después de una década de convivencia y de cargar con el monstruo que habían creado, quemaron las naves pensando que ya no los veríamos volver. Inaugurando estudio propio de por medio, el resultado fue así una terapia de amor rabiosa, sangrienta, el juego de seducción de caníbales mordiendo hasta partirse los dientes.
Un disco con influencias reconocidas hacia el shoegazing, My Bloody Valentine, Soul II Soul, Ultra Vivid Scene, Te Orb, Spiritualized, Sonic Youth y Lush, entre otras bandas que habían visto durante una gira previa en España en la que hallaron una nueva perspectiva. Tuvo desde grandes invitados hasta intermedios de sesiones de yoga...
La tapa elegida fue un microcosmos de cuerpos kitsch, unas baratijas en órbita alrededor de un corazón celeste sobre fondo rojo. Pero eso fue apenas la superficie. Adentro había capas y capas de sonido, causas y efectos infinitos, inabarcables, distorsionados: remolinos que no se detenían y modificaban cada escucha.
El disco, ese big bang de ruido misterioso tan perfectamente ordenado, fue poco o mal festejado. Pero, con los años, Dynamo apareció como ese maestro anciano en zapatillas de colores que se jacta con un "Te lo dije". Su música envejeció bien, sorprendentemente bien. Después de muchas búsquedas aproximadas, Gustavo había hallado su mejor sonido, el sonido, en ese huracán de guitarras. Los álbumes anteriores fueron el camino, la metamorfosis de una banda neo Virus o The Police del tercer mundo, hasta la consagración con nombre propio.
Ese disco hoy no falta en ninguna lista sobre los mejores del rock nacional, sentado en el mismo anaquel (o la misma lista de Spotify) que "Instituciones", "Artaud", "La Biblia", "El amor después del amor", "Luzbelito"...
Unos años antes, esos tres muchachos habían cantado que salía el sol. Pero después pasaron cosas. "En remolinos" resume el paraíso, la zona pura, la paz sin deseo en medio de la tormenta, la vida volviendo a nacer del caos.
La teoría heliocéntrica postula que nuestra tierra, nuestro mundo, gira alrededor del sol. El sol, que es vida, no se mueve más que lo necesario por la expansión del universo, y eso explica que haya sido el dios central en tantísimas culturas ¿prehistóricas? El disco del que hablamos, el tema del que hablamos, pateó tableros de axiomas y puso a girar al sol... y puso a girar a Dios.
Para esas canciones que llegaron antes de su tiempo, para esos muchachos, para Gustavo, el tiempo no pasa. Siempre es hoy.
