El cotejo, válido por la cuarta fecha de la Zona B, era de vital importancia para los cordobeses ya que debían ganar para acercarse a una unidad del "Taladro" -líder del grupo- y buscar la clasificación en la última fecha. En tanto, si el elenco bonaerense lograba los tres puntos, se metía en la final.
El conjunto dirigido por el uruguayo Alexander Medina se adelantó rápidamente por intermedio de Franco Fragapane, pero el "Taladro" llegó la igualdad a los 26 minutos por el mediocampista goleador Giuliano Galoppo. Sin embargo, en la última jugada de la primera mitad, la "T" se fue al frente gracias a una definición de Tomás Pochettino.
En el complemento, Juan Pablo Álvarez, de tiro penal, niveló el marcador para Banfield pero en tiempo de descuento, a los 48, Diego Valoyes le dio el triunfo a Talleres.
El volante oriundo de Frontera, Federico Navarro, fue titular en la "T" y completó los 90 minutos de juego.
