Cómo cuidarnos de un golpe de calor
Los bebés, niños pequeños y ancianos son los más vulnerables al intenso calor. El doctor Daniel Martelli del Sanatorio San Justo recomendó mantenerse bien hidratados y cuidarse del sol. En esta nota, todas las recomendaciones para evitarlo.
En pleno enero, las altas temperaturas no ceden y con ellas llega el golpe de calor que afecta principalmente a los extremos de la vida: los bebés, niños pequeños y ancianos, provocando vómitos, desmayos y hasta pérdida de conocimiento.
Para evitarlo es fundamental tener en cuenta sencillas medidas de prevención, entre ellas, mantener una hidratación adecuada -bebiendo agua, evitando bebidas alcohólicas- y cuidarse del sol. Sin dejar de implementar también los cuidados para prevenir el coronavirus que son el uso del barbijo, lavado de manos y el distanciamiento social.
Desde el Sanatorio y Clínica San Justo de nuestra ciudad, el doctor Daniel Martelli recordó a LA VOZ DE SAN JUSTO que el golpe de calor generalmente se produce cuando las personas hacen ejercicio en climas cálidos y húmedos sin beber suficientes líquidos, aunque también puede ocurrir en personas que no están haciendo ninguna actividad física. "Es fundamental beber agua y no bebidas alcohólicas o gaseosas", dijo.
Asimismo advirtió que las "personas mayores y quienes tienen problemas de salud pueden verse afectados especialmente, por lo que deben tener mucho cuidado en condiciones de calor extremo. También pueden sufrir serias consecuencias los niños pequeños".
Detalló que quienes corren mayor riesgo ante el intenso calor son: los menores de 5 años y más aún los menores de 1 año, los ancianos, quienes sufren enfermedades crónicas que pueden ser: cardíacas, renales, mentales o neurológicas. También los niños con fiebre por otra causa o diarrea, las personas obesas o desnutridas, quienes tienen la piel quemada por el sol, quienes abusan de bebidas con alcohol y drogas.
Se recomienda practicar deportes en horas tempranas del día
Consejos para prevenir
Para evitar un golpe de calor, se debe tener en cuenta:
· Tratar de no estar demasiado activo y tomar descansos cuando haga ejercicio.
· Beber suficientes líquidos -como agua o bebidas deportivas- para no sentir sed. No obstante, no forzarse a beber cantidades muy grandes en poco tiempo, y no ingerir tanto líquido para evitar una sensación de incomodidad.
· Hacer cualquier ejercicio temprano en el día, antes de que suba demasiado la temperatura ambiente.
· Vestir ropa liviana y suelta. Evitar usar demasiadas capas. Quitarse la ropa extra que se usa.
· Evitar estar en un automóvil caliente.
· No exponerse al sol entre las 10 y las 16.
Para refrescar el cuerpo:
· Tomar una ducha o baño fresco.
· Beber agua o una bebida deportiva. No tomar bebidas con alcohol o cafeína.
· Rociarse con agua fría y luego sentarse frente a un ventilador.
· Buscar la sombra. Entrar en un edificio o automóvil con aire acondicionado.
· Colocar una compresa o paño frío sobre su cuello o axila.
