Comienza una nueva aventura
Este sábado se llevará a cabo la etapa prólogo de la 43ª edición del Rally Dakar, que se disputa del 3 al 15 de enero por segundo año consecutivo en Arabia Saudita.
El Rally Dakar 2021 'oficialmente' comienza el domingo 3 de enero por segundo año consecutivo en Arabia Saudita con la disputa de la primera especial entre Jeddah y Bisha de 622 kilómetros de recorrido, 277 de ellos contra el reloj. Pero antes, en concreto este sábado 2 de enero se disputará el primer aperitivo: la etapa prólogo. La competencia finalizará el 15 del corriente.
Será una breve puesta en escena de poco más de 10 kilómetros de recorrido (todos ellos sobre asfalto) que tiene un propósito principal: fijar un orden de salida justo para el rally y no el que se utilizaría si no existiese el prólogo, es decir, por orden de dorsal.

El raid más exigente del planeta tendrá buena presencia argentina, a saber:
l Cuatriciclos: Nicolás Cavigliasso, campeón en 2019, será la bandera de la delegación nacional tras no haber participado de la pasada competencia. También estarán Manuel Andújar, cuarto en 2020; Carlos Verza; Santiago Hansen y Pablo Copetti.
El sexto piloto argentino tiene una particularidad: con 18 años y 211 días al momento de la largada, Tobías Carrizo será el más joven de todo el Dakar. Esta será su primera vez. Tras complicaciones con el vuelo, ya está camino a Arabia Saudita.
l Motos: Kevin Benavides buscará sacarse la espina con su Honda de su decepcionante resultado en 2020, en el que no dio pelea ante la contundencia del estadounidense Ricky Brabec (Honda). El salteño fue top 5 entre 2016 y 2019.
También estará su hermano Luciano, con una Huqsvarna, con ganas de mejorar el sexo lugar del 2020. Franco Caimi (Yamaha) será quien complete el tridente, en la búsqueda por mejorar el positivo octavo puesto de la pasada edición.
l Autos: El experimentado Orlando Terranova irá nuevamente con su Mini a la exigencia del Dakar: será su 16° preparación para la cita. El objetivo está claro y es el de mejorar su quinto lugar de las ediciones 2013 y 2014. En 2020 terminó sexto.
A diferencia de Orly, que va por la copa, Juan Cruz y Alejandro Yacopini (Toyota) tendrán su primera vez como hijo y padre. Para Juan Cruz, de 20 años, será su debut, mientras que su papá ya estuvo en ocho ediciones, con un 11º puesto como mejor resultado en 2020.
En la categoría UTV habrá dos argentinos como navegantes: Ricardo Torlaschi acompañará al ecuatoriano Sebastián Guayasamin, mientras que Juan Manuel 'Pato' Silva llevará el manual de ruta del español Gael Queralt.
